Transformation Classes
Transformation is not a decision of the will, it’s not like starting a diet by willpower alone and then a few days into the diet giving it up. Transformation is…a building up of the awareness of ourselves, God and others…the whys of why we do what we do. Transformation is not pretending that behaviors don’t exist in us, that we wish didn’t, but looking at why they are there in the first place.
How long does transformation take? Transformation is a lifelong journey with your Creator allowing the Trinitarian God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) to meet with us, walk with us, and engage us with the mind of Christ.
Dallas Willard says it best in his book Renovation of The Heart “The process of spiritual formation in Christ is one of progressively replacing… destructive images and ideas with the images and ideas that filled the mind of Jesus himself. Spiritual formation in Christ moves toward a total interchange of our images for his.
Romans 12:1-2 The Message
“ So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
